Weekly Photo Project 16 - All About Jules

Sweet Jules,

You are just a bundle of personality. You have been since birth. here leately, though, your expressions are cracking me up. You are a super smart little girl who is a bundle of opinions, giggles, jealously, and spunk. On the flip side, you are very dainty and so careful with things like turning books pages and petting Gus. What makes it so funny, too, is that you look and act exactly like me, which is a little strange honestly. But, its just also a miracle to see how I created something that is so much like me. With big beautiful eyes and huge curls, you are truely a beautiful little girl. You are such a funny little girl, too.  You want to be just like mommy and now want to play dress up, use mommy's cup, eat mommy's foood, wear mommy's shoes, etc. You fully believe that you are a little adult in a toddler body. Your curls are finally coming in. I think I have been waiting and waiting and waiting on your hair to grow, and now its here, in a curly mop on your sweet little head.  And it's precious :)

Love,
Mommy

Weekly Photo Project 15 - Pigtails and Pooh

Sweet Jules,

It seems like it took forever for your hair to grow. Each time I see another toddler one of the first things I say is "wow, look at her hair!". Yes, the mommies might think I'm strange, but i just simply couldn't wait until you precious hair started to grow. As much as I adore all the curls on your head, I couldn't wait until we could  put precious piggie tails on your head! Although it was a struggle, it was a success! You don't love them yet, as you constaly want to pull them out (we have to distract you until you forget about them) I absolutely think you are so cute with them in!

Love,
Mommy

I have said it before and I'll say it again. You are 100% my little cuddle bug, and you adore your stuffed animals. From way back before you were even born, there was a connection to both you and Jules and Winnie the Pooh and Piglet (Mommy got the complete storybook for a baby shower gift). From then on we went and collected many more stories of Pooh and the 100 Acre Woods. It is such a special story or friendship, which I hope you and Jules will always share. Mommy bought you a stuffed Pooh a couple of months ago, but imagine my surprise when I was cleaning out an old closet and found my old stuffed animals. And wouldnt' you know I had Piglet? He was sitting there waiting to be loved by you. And boy, he has been. Now you have Pooh and Piglet. As it should be.

Love,
Mommy

Always Remember...Never Forget

It chills me to the bone when I think of 9-11. And it all the more eerie to this is has been 10 years. Where was I?

I had recently moved to Nashville (1-2001) to live with my boyfriend (Jake, of course). I worked as a recruiter for Appleone Employment at the time. I worked with a group of about 6 or 7 women. We were all at work when we got a call from a girl that was running late that a plane kamikazed into the World Trade Center. My first thoughts were some crazy plane malfunction that was crashing. Then she got to work and we all turned out our non-cable 13 inch tube TV in the back, and pandemonium ensued. It wasn't until I called my mom to talk to her that she was in a absolute panic, telling me that she FINALLY got hold of my sister and she was ok. It was at that moment I lost it, because I just remembered that she was up in Manhattan for a buyer's trip (she worked as a buyer). Thanking God she was ok, it took her almost a week to make it back home.  It turned into days and days on constant TV watching, praying and crying.

What is crazy to me is kids that are 8, 9 years old are now reading this in history books, and look at it like the JFK event that I read about. I didn't live it, so how could I possibly understand? My parents remember the exact spot where they were during that time, and I just could have never related. I will never, ever forget 9-11. God Bless the NYFD, the NYPD, the families,  and all those precious lives and that were lost on that day. I will always remember, and never forget.

Steppin' Out Saturday - Tennessee Game Numero Dos

Another fun weekend of UT tailgating an a Tennessee win? Yes please!! This weekend we faced off against the Cincinnati Bearcats, and came off victorious, which was pure awesomeness. Also fun was that my sister Leslie came in town from Dallas for the weekend (and it also happened to be my birthday weekend, natch). Friday night was super fun as we had some cocktails at Chesapeake's in Downtown Nashville. then Jake took me out for a birthday dinner at Fleming's (muy bueno). The next day was football tailgating fun, followed by a yummy dinner on Market Square in Knoxville with all the Prater Girls....and Jake. Poor Jake, lol its hard to be around my and my sisters and my mom...While the weekend had its high points, it had its low points as well. We left the babes this weekend at my sweet in-laws. Although a super high point for them (they had an absolute blast) I, of course missed them to pieces! We dropped them off on Friday (again, already sporting our orange, which we do here on Fridays as I mentioned in last week's post)

Me and the babes at the "drop-off"

But not before playing in the back of the SUV! (don't worry - thats not how they rode, lol)
