Our Weekend

This weekend was another crazy, but fun weekend! First was their little school Valentine's Party. So stinking cute.
Josh really is happy - promise!

My sister sings every Valentine's weekend in Knoxville in a band called The White Cosbys, and my brother-in-law plays the keyboard. It is so much dang fun. They kind of call it an 80's Prom Night. Most of the songs are those fabulous songs that you can't forget from the 80's and 90's. Here is a post from another performance.

It was a fun night as always, and super late as always lol. I swear my poor body can't do that much anymore. Ha!!

Saturday night we were back in Nashville (whew) because Grama and Papa got them tickets to Disney Jr Live for their birthday. There are so many of these little shows that come to Nashville. While I'll never support a circus of any kind, I feel compelled to want to go to all of these shows lol. We've done Super Why (our first one - Fun), Thomas the Train (not great), Sesame Street (not fun), Disney on Ice (super great), Fresh Beat Band (freaking awesome), and now Disney Jr. It was okay. It was fun, but a little boring, and I usually love this kind of stuff. And also as I type this out I really we need to tone down our shows lol. In our defense they are usually gifts from grandparents :) Plus, because we just did Magic Kingdom when we went to Disney, I felt we needed to go see Jake and the Pirates and Sophia the First, because my kids are sooooo obsessed with both of them.

Naturally, we had to wear our Sophia dress and Jake shirt! (Josh didn't want to completely wear his Jake costume)

Our Weekend.

Whew! This weekend went by so fast. We had so much packed into three days I'm not sure I would have survived (and let's be honest, Sunday I was feeling a bit puny)

Friday afternoon sweet Jules started Ballet again. (well...Creative Movement as it's called when you're 3/4). We are doing it a a new place and I liked it so far. It's an hour as opposed to 30min, so I think it will be better for her. Also? Josh is rocking the crap out of some colored skinny jeans.

Another great thing about enrolling them in classes, is that I get one-on-one time with the other twin, which we don't do far often enough. I forget how important that is. So, Josh and I headed to the library for some Mommy/son time.

After lunch we headed over to the Nashville Humane Association. As mentioned in their party post, I decided to name a charity this year in lieu of birthday gifts, and I'm so glad I did! It was a great experience and the kiddos enjoyed delivering everything and seeing the dogs and cats. I will definitely be doing this again.

Friday night was a family date night to see The Fresh Beat Band at the Grand Ole Opry. I have been to the Opry before, but Jake hadn't. I told him 20 years from now if someone asked him if he's been he can say "Yes, I saw The Fresh Beat Band there is 2014." And he would seem super cool. Syke

Jules wanted to take a pic of me in my nerd glasses. Also - Jake is trying to photobomb.

And OMG - This was fun. It helps that I knew 90% of the songs, and might have been singing and dancing more than my 4 year olds. Also, it's super awesome that it's actually the same kids in the show, and not look alike actors or something.

*aside - I kept things how awesome it would be to be them. They are like my age, and travel around and make awesome money and get to have fun all the time with kids - how cool is that?

Saturday morning we had a birthday party to go to. Some awesome things:

1. a morning party - genius. My kids are already bouncing off the walls at 9:00. Might as well bounce at a bounce house.
2. different! The food was breakfast type food. And who doesn't love Krispy Kreme?
3. the dad was a wine distributor, so the adults got goody bags as well. Triple Score.

The kiddos then went to Grama's house and Jake and I had a fun night planned. I am kinda sorta obsessed with Chris D'Elia. He is a comedian who has been of lots of different shows. However, I fell in love with him
started following him on Vine. (I am also OBSESSED with Vine). He is hysterical, and when I saw he was coming to Nashville I was super, super excited.

For those that have never been to Zanies, I highly recommend it. We don't go near enough, and each time we go we have a great time. Its small, intimate, but also crowded at the same time. There is always a good seat and good service.
I  might be a little excited, and I also might have my hand groping his abdomen.

Sunday we picked the kiddos up and it was actually pretty nice outside so we did us a little bike riding. Naturally that was short-lived and it's 20 degrees again. Gotta love living in the south!

Steppin Out Saturday - Martinis and Mehndi

My fabulous friend Sumita is getting married to her love in October. Those of you familiar with Indian customs as far as weddings go, know that they throw a huge hoopla of a party. But, Sumita decided not to do that, but do a smaller family wedding. So, in lieu of that, she threw a fabulous Martinis and Mehndi shower on Saturday where all us girls got to get together and experience such a fabulous part of her culture (and martinis yo!)

They are a little blurry. It's hard sometimes for normal peeps to use my camera. It's not very user friendly. Ashley, Marette, the bride-to-be, Moi, and Gina

Me getting my mehndi! For who don't know, its tradition. The brides get these huge elaborate designs for their wedding. Its kind of like puffy paint, but a temporary tattoo that lasts a couple of weeks.

We are got some fab forehead art :) Or Bindi
On Moi: Dress off ebay (score!) Necklace J Crew

I asked my friend Gina to take a few pics of me getting it done, and in this pic Im cracking up, because she got all "paparazzi" on me. She might have taken a gazillion.

Almost done! As elaborate as it is, it literally took her 3 minutes. insane.

Tada! Yes, I realize my hands resemble that of a 10 year old. Its ridiculous, and embarrassing. This new biz is creating havoc on the old nails.

Marette, Ashley and My designs. They are all so different and so cool!!

All of our hands. Gina did the right thing by actually having pretty nails :)

All the girls with Sumita!

Steppin Out Saturday - Its that Time Again!!!

Is it really fall? No, it can't be!!! Did I just celebrate ANOTHER birthday? (Happy birthday to moi!) I am now in my mid 30ish years, whew.

If you do not live in the south and are not a football fan, but follow my blog, you will get bored quick during the fall. We go to a.lot. of football games around here and I'm a proud UT Vol fan. And all of a sudden in the blink of an eye football is upon us.

And due to my new little business venture, I have been super busy and forgot to post any pics from the first game, and now we're past game two (both wins by the way).

Go Vols! let the football season begin! Although I'm posting two games, I am going to pause here and tell you we reached a HUGE, SUPREME milestone in the Stribling household. The babes attended their FIRST Vols football game. Thats a big deal, ya'll.

Babes First Football Game
UT vs Western Kentucky University

Coached by Butch Jones
Vols win 52-20

They tailgated, loved the Vol Walk, loved the band, and loved the food. Football? Eh. We made it to the end of the first quarter. But that was pretty good for a super crowded game and 150 degrees. We got there about three hours before the game, so all in all I think they did well. If the stadium wasn't so crowded and I wasn't concerned every second on if they were bothering someone, they may could have stayed longer.

Me and my sister, Leslie, totally cheesing.

On Moi:
Boutique dress/necklace. (hmm, wish I knew the rest, but was purchased from my little Instagram shop)

Part of our little tailgating crew. The first game wasn't as crowded.

Second game. Sadly, as BIG as a photographer as I am, and as bothersome as I am that person with a camera at all times, I didn't take any of their first game!!!! WTH is wrong with me?? So, my sister took this one of them at the Vol Walk.

Our only, measly family pic at the game. How sad is that? And yes, thats as big as it is. Dang phone pic.

Our tailgate crew from the second game. My how times have changed from college parties to kiddos!! Two sets of twin kids in this pic too!

Steppin Out to The Irish Picnic

This weekend we "stepped out" to the Irish Picnic in McEwen, TN. Jake's family lives right outside of there so we decided to take the kiddos and visit his family as well.

The Irish Picnic is apparently quite famous. And even though I've known him for years and years, this was also my first time at the Picnic. It dates back to 1854 and attracts 25000+ every year. They smoke tons of barbecue and have lot if little fair games for the kiddos. Although I don't eat pork, it supposed to be quite fabulous.

Playing maybe a "throw the baseball, knock over bottles game". clearly they're cheating.

Jules, too. Don't let her fool you.

The twinnies with their prizes they won.

Celebrating - fake smile style.

Whats a picnic without blue ice cream?

Sweet guy - blue lips and all. Also - eyelashes. Swoon...

Hey Jules, wanna go fishin? It's fun (from my favorite movie in the world, Shag)

The little fam! Casual Saturday :)
